UseResponse 3 Beta - Major Update

Hi @all,

We know that many of you were waiting for several months before we publish Beta release to the community. 1 year of intensive work and 3.0 3.0.1  3.0.2 beta release is live. Here are major changes:

  • New interface is more intuitive, less clicks to navigate system and rebuilt most major parts of functionality that should be more simple for administrators to manage and users to find answers;
  • Responses are renamed to Topics;
  • Updates are renamed to Announcements;
  • Official Answer is replaced with Best Comment;
  • Home page customization with the help of widgets under Administration-Interface;
  • Knowledge Base module now includes articles and FAQs;
  • Now Knowledge Base articles and Topic can be assigned only to one category instead of multiple;
  • Set Reminders to Topics to invite any users;
  • Set Responsible of any agent to the object;
  • Make objects to be featured and display them in separate widgets;
  • Integrated "Change Log" to track any activity in the system for any field;
  • Now commenting could be with 2nd level instead of quoting to discuss inside topics of minor details. So it affected sorting by dates - now sorting is by assignment of comments;
  • Integrated User Card to gather browser version and other data about authors of topics and comments;
  • Changed behavior of the system when new topic is created to delegate them between agents. You can check it in Administration-Notifications;
  • Now Files, Categories, Merger, Private Objects modules are built-in system. Also ideas, problems, questions, thanks modules are called Feedback Module;
  • Translating system is totally rebuilt to make it easier to import/export language files.

We still have to work on several features and functionality that are still not migrated from 2.3.x and will be integrated by 3.1 release. So still missing features:

  • Chat Module - almost completed;
  • External Widgets to put on any page of website;
  • API;
  • Mobile UI;
  • Polls Module - completed;
  • Reports & Analytics.

That is why we don't recommend installing it for live community yet. All upgrade details and installation instructions are inside archive that can be downloaded on Licenses page and available only for users with Corporate package.

We are happy to announce 3.0.2 Beta release that can be downloaded by users with active Corporate subscription on Licenses page. Find "additional downloads section":

Here are some details about 3.0.2 release:

  1. It's still beta, as we have to complete external widgets and mobile UI;
  2. From now on, you can try upgrading your live communities, as next release will have incremental upgrade instructions, so there won't be a problem to upgrade later to the next release;
  3. Most of the translations and features are polished, though HelpDesk module requires more improvements that we'll be working on during next month.

We have one more big thing to integrate that will affect the whole system - mostly agents, so stay tuned, and ask questions.

P.S. We are thinking of changing prices really soon, but no exact date about that.

Sorry, there is no live demo of this release, as it's Beta. All demos and trials to check live will be updated when stable release is live.

The only choice now is to make fresh installation or update 2.3.10 version.

Hello Stas, so finally, good work.


Anyway as usually in my case - problems with install.


1. Fresh install

2. Used FileZilla for data transfer which was previsouly only FTP client that worked without issues

3. all folders are set to 755, files to 644


result on image. Anythink I can do to help with this?

Hello Denis,


unfortunately this is not possible. We use hosting from another company http://www.onebit.cz/en/ so it's not our own web server and we do not have access to such files.

Hello Jirka,

I think the problem should be in your hostname... It's not allowed to use "_" character in domain or sub-domain name. Please create domain with "-" character and the problem should be resolved.

thank you for a suggestion and sorry for my missing knowledges about possible characters in domain names. Anyway I tried help-dev.locusmap.eu and now also helpdev.locusmap.eu and result is exactly same. So it won't be real source of problem.


I understand it should be a problem that I do not have direct access to apache server, on second side, I use this webhosting for many years and services like Wordpress, Drupal, PhpBB, SMFSimple and some others I already use or used in past, never had any problems with installations.

Not exactly the way to get me to buy the product. I have a question. Does this new version change the way themes are built?

Thanks for the quick response! However it did not clear much of anything up for me. "New default theme is system built in" does not make sense to me. It looks like you moved the themes from public/themes but that does not effect development. And in 2.3.9 isn't the customization done by using CSS, and the layouts can be currently overwritten by placing them in the custom theme?


And what do you mean by "unavailable to be changed?"


Here is what I want to know. I am, or was going to, spend some time to make UR 2.3.9 look like our web app. That means completely changing the UI. Now since you use jQuery that is not a problem, as our UI is Bootstrap 3.1.1.


However one thing I am going to need to do, is turn off your "mobile theme" because I will not require it, as Bootstrap is responsive.


So my question to you is, have you changed so much in the default theme that it does not make sense for me to create a Bootstrap theme based off of UR 2.3.9? Or are you using the same codebase in which case the work I do will not be wasted when UR 3.1 is released.


That is what I am trying to figure out, I obviously do not want to waste time doing things twice.

Hello @all,

We are glad to announce 3.0.1 release. Here are some notes about it:

  • Fixed more than 40 bugs found in 3.0 release;
  • Worked on localization, so most of the expressions are translated;
  • Polls module is completed;
  • Chat module works with only settings;
  • Rethought some parts in architecture, but some more things need to be polished;
  • Integrated similar topics search on New Topics page;
  • and many many small enhancements and tweaks.

It's still beta release, so you can test it in development environment or update 2.3.10 release in dev environment.

P.S. We are working on Mobile UI, API, Help Desk module now, so about 2-3 more beta releases and we'll be ready to push live stable release in about 1-1.5 months.

We have plans on improving RSS system wide to provide more flexible options, but no plans to incorporate it in first stable release. Once we polish all the core features, we'll work on RSS per category feature

I'm interested what features are done after another month, what has changed, how has changed time plans, if there is need for some more intensive testing on pre-release version, etc. Let us know as I'm sure, users (not just me) are curios ;)

We'll be able to share with you pre-release version tomorrow, as we also going to update our community first.

We've done so far, external widget - Support Center, and completed Resful API. We won't be able to complete Mobile UI and Reports section to be done by 3.1 release. Will share with you pre-release version in private with you.

We are going to publish 3.0.2 Beta release shortly. But we don't have exact exact date for stable one - it would be published when it's ready. We are talking about weeks here.

Waiting for stable version?

If I install the beta version now, will I have problems in updating to the stable version when released. We launch our website and services in September.

Please wait for 3.0.2 beta release. When it's live, it would give you the option to update to stable one without problems when it's live

We are on final phase of testing 3.1 release. All features are already completed, so we want to announce launch dates - 6th - 10th November 2014

Please make sure you have active subscription on updates and support in order to get all extras for free.

Joel,

Tickets are always private.

The main difference is that in topics main is status to track the progress of the idea, problem or question. In ticket - main is state - it's either opened or completed, but statuses define on what stage ticket is located when it's opened.

Also, tickets could be created via email. There are also ticket rules that are very flexible in who will receive notifications and what should be done with that ticket according to specific rules (title, description, category and more) and conditions. So you define conditions what should be done with added object before it's get posted (moved to trash, ignored, etc)
