Would be REALLY helpful to include the Navigation Bar in 3.0 Release

Archived Dan Baritchi 10 years ago

Hey guys. You know we love UseResponse and we have 2 installations, but something we've felt for a long time is missing in UseResponse is a navigation bar at the top. Not as something to be added as custom by people, but as a feature of the product.

* This is because we have a main website AND a UR-based forums website (just like you guys)... everyone already has a website... the UR site is an addition to that. So the navigation bar is crucial to navigate between the two. *

Specifically I'm talking about something just like navigation bar like you have at the top of your community: http://www.screencast.com/t/z19SFyBR0P

Yes we could manually code that ourselves but for us it's hard to code and maintain even something simple.

This would be a VERY useful addition to UseResponse - as a standard feature of the product, at least the Enterprise version. Hopefully for release in 3.0. :-)

To make it easier to implement you could just add the styling for that section and leave the div empty, with simple instructions for your members how to edit that piece of the theme and add the <li></li> items to populate it... that would make it way more simple to implement than having to manage links in the UR interface.

I'm sure you have a full schedule for the next release, i.e. we're awaiting it for the query performance updates - and I hope you'll consider this request as well. :-)

Thanks!

In 3.1 release, there is option to customize Home screen and add any buttons/links to navigation bar at the top using Administration area.

So Home Screen could be customized with provided Widgets that are flexible in location and view, and top tabs

We've decided to work on something similar, but with more universal approach. Will be able to disclose more information when we come closer to this feature
