When I view a question as Admin, my Answer automatically comes up in edit mode - not View mode
Hi guys!
In our own UseResponse community, when I go to view a question that I posted an answer to, the "answer" automatically comes up in edit mode.

I would prefer to see it like everyone else does - in view mode - and have an "edit" button underneath. That is the standard behavior that regular site users see for their questions/answers/etc.
How can I enable this?
Thanks!
Hi, Jennifer
Currently there is no way to enable this option in the admin area, as this is the default and only flow to reduce the number of clicks for official representatives, but we will consider this option for further releases. Thank you for the suggestion!

Yeah, my concern with this "default open in edit mode" is that after I answer a post, and then i don't see it to preview my answer.
and to open it in another browser when i'm not logged in as administrator is a lot of extra steps. :-)Perhaps this could be a preference setting in the user profile? some people may like this behavior, some may not.
To clarify (case example): we often review the existing answered posts in our UseResponse to see if they answer a similar question we got via email or our other ticket system.
sometimes we need to update the existing answer, sometimes we need to make a new answer. but still requires us to view the answer like people would normally see it, in view mode.
Thanks!!

Yes, I see what you mean. I think we will either
1. add "preview" and "back to edit" links below the official answer,
or
2. will display official answer if there is any by default in preview mode with link to edit. And if there is no official answer added yet, administrator (official rep) will see text area to add response like now.Maybe we will make it as an option in admin area settings or change the default flow... have to think about it

Jennifer,
My personal opinion - I don't see application of preview mode, as you have formatting inside official answer edit mode almost identical as if you had preview mode, and to eliminate extra clicks you just edit or update it - that's it.
The only difference of view and edit mode in this case, that you don't see margins between paragraphs, and that's it - everything is similar, either you add new answer or update with notifications current one.

LOL OK dear, made my own account on here. ;-)
@Anna i love your option #2 from your post yesterday.
@Anna and @Stas - we LOVE UseResponse, this system is wonderful, and you guys are great to work with!!! UseResponse is what we've been searching for for the last few years. This ticket is a totally minor item, so whatever you guys choose to do is fine. :-)
Thanks!Dan

Hey Guys!
Is it possible for this to make it in 2.3? It will make our job a lot easier to not have to switch browsers every time we make a post to "see what our customers see". For every "official answer" we post, I have to go to open the post in another browser where i'm not logged in so i can confirm the links work and it looks ok in the standard view mode everyone sees. :-)Thanks!Dan

Dan,
I don't think it would ever be made as it's not something that is considered by us to be effective.
I don't understand why do you change browsers as content inside is editable and saved each time you update official answer? You see it after page refresh

Hi Stas.
The reason for opening up the topic in another browser is that you cannot see what it 'actually' looks like in edit mode and cannot click on the links to make sure they go where they are supposed to.
If I want to see what everyone else sees, there's no other option but to open the thread in another browser where I'm not logged in.
Also, the comments do not behave this way - it just seems that the official answer behaves differently than the rest of the thread.
If I'm logged in, I do not automatically see my comments in edit mode so why should the official answer automatically show in edit mode?

Hi Jennifer,
The only problem I see here - links. We'll see what we can do - anyway, we have plans on some improvements in WYSIWYG

This idea is deprecated, as we are removing Official Answer from UseResponse 3.0 due to the reasons that it can be replaced with Best Answer option.
More details will be shared in about several weeks.
