New status - Shelved?

Archived James W. 12 years ago

Sometimes it does't feel right to take a user's idea from "Under Consideration" to "Declined". Some times a good idea is not right for "now", so rather than dismiss it, it's nicer, and ultimately more "polite", to "Shelve" and idea.

Yes, I'm aware you can update the database to add more, but I think it would be nice if it was "officially" added. :)

Thank you for sharing idea. We don't have plans to integrate it in minor releases, until it's needed by community.

I think that if you have idea and you want to shelve it, you just leave it under consideration or set as planned=shelved.

Just don't make it declined until you are sure you won't make it. Or you can decline it once, and recover it to planned later, when other users vote up for it

... but then you end up with hundreds of defaulted "Under Consideration" ideas, which makes it hard to review anything eventually. ;)

In your case, following actions should be done:

  1. Add as many statuses as you'd like in database to any type of response;
  2. Change default status in database to whatever you'd like;
  3. Rename any statuses with Web Translation tool under Administration->Languages

And you'll have system like you want in workflow.
