It would be nice to prompt for login, when access to a topic is blocked due to privacy

Archived Stephen Livesey 12 years ago

We have created a 'private' category, and then created a new post within that category, this sends an email out to the 'official representatives', if they click the link it takes them to a page that displays:

Incorrect request! No response found!

It would be much nicer if this displayed:

The response is protected, please login.

And below this provided the user with the ability to login.

If the user then logged in and belonged to a role that allowed them to see private responses, it would show them the response, otherwise it wouldn't.

Thanks for sharing idea. We'll consider it for the next releases, as it's really more convenient to know why you can't see the response and what is the problem, rather than getting Incorrect request! if you are not logged in.

Now when you click on link from email and is not logged in, you'll be forwarded to login form and notified that object is private. After login you'll get to the private response, of course, if you have permissions to see it
