Allow updates to be searchabale

Declined Joel A. 11 years ago

When searching or entering a new response, I'd like the Updates to be included in the search results.

Hi Joel,

Updates and Announcements section is used mostly to update users about some changes or inform them about major changes. Why it should be searchable?

Do you have any specific workflow for that?

There is often a lot of useful information in the update notes that I thought would be beneficial to someone who is searching for details about a recent change.

In latest 3.x beta release there is option to search articles and FAQs in Knowledge Base. Most users will provide valualable information either as a set of questions, ideas or in Knowledge Base, so if you have any manuals, docs, you better organize KB in your community - normal practice worldwide

Okay, I was able to add my updates to the knowledge base, but when I search the knowledge base it ignores the updates that are part of it so they are not coming up in the search results.

What version of UseResponse do you use? Please refer to comment above about the right version to be used

I am using an older version. I will wait for a stable version of 3 before implementing this. Thanks

Joel,

Please update to the latest 3.1.3 version in order for KB and Faqs to be searchable.

I am now using the latest version but I am not finding a way to make my Announcements searchable. I do not see a way to add my announcements to the knowledge base other than by creating a new Article. Is that the only way?

We have declined this idea as you can see. What is the purpose of searching for announcements?

For example, if we add release notes, we add it as articles, as this is a part what users will look for to find the answers.

So articles would be the only option to be created for users to find the content.

The only reason I see is that you can use announcements as blog posts, but otherwise there is no sense for us to make them searchable.

Maybe you could provide your use case this
