Google Analytics code

Archived Eduardo Russo 12 years ago

It would be nice to have an easy way to insert an Google Analytics code from the Admin Pannel.

Thanks for sharing idea!

We'll consider it for future releases along with Community Statistics.

As of now you can place the code in /application/templates/layout/head.phtml at the very bottom of file.

Done in 2.3 Release

Hi Stas, we require this too. However, I would like to recommend a much more flexible and easier way for you to implement it.

Consider this: our sites get millions of pageviews, so analytics across ALL our sites are critical. In one place, not standalone for one product. ;-) So we use Google Analytics, but also ChartBeat, CrazyEgg, and others.

Each of these services only requires a few lines of Javascript added, either in header (right before </head> html tag) OR in footer (right before </body> tag).

Our friends who build the StudioPress Genesis WordPress Framework offer this very simple set of 2 fields in their settings, called "Header & Footer Scripts": http://grab.by/eBXm

So you don't have to support Google ANalytics or a dozen other services, it's far easier to literally add 2 HTML boxes in Admin and allow us to enter whatever Javascript/HTML code needs to be added before </head> and </body>

I realize it is possible to manually edit the UseResponse templates, but that will cause problems every time you guys roll out an update, so we will try to not touch those files unless absolutely necessary.

Please consider making this change in Admin Settings.

Thanks!

Dan

Thanks so much!

Sorry, but no estimate on this... We'll try to incorporate it in future minor releases when vacation period ends.

Hey Stas, hope you're doing excellent!

Just checking in on the addition of Analytics support, to get an ETA when this may be included in a minor release update. :-)

Thanks!!

Dan, it's still in planned. No ETA at the moment. We'll work on that during next 1-2 months.

Just a quick update on the progress. We'll have line and pie (grouping) charts integrated in 2.2 Release. Screenshot below. Opinion?

The header and footer script areas look good as do the charts.

Thank you. 2.2 release will be private with some bug fixes and knowledge base module. We want to polish Analytics to incorporate it in 2.3 public release
