Keep widget text as new response text

Archived Dan & Jennifer 12 years ago

This may only be a demo issue because it worked here...

When I entered the search text in the widget and then clicked new response, the text was not carried over to the "Title" in the new response window.

Yes, currently demo is 1.0.1 release and we already launched 1.0.2 where this issue is fixed.

As we've mentioned while creating online demo, that it can contain not latest release or features, so we plan to update demo once 1.1 release is live, as difference between 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 is not big enough

Hi,

This can be considered as usability issue. To enable search you have to click on the small search icon in the text area. See attached.

"New Response" button doesn't relate to the search here, and leads to the page where you add new response from scratch.

Hi Anna. Sure, but a new user who comes to the website has already entered what they were looking for in the search form...

so from usability perspective (i.e. making things super intuitive for the new visitor), it seems to make sense to grab what they already wrote, and begin their new post with that. that way they don't feel it was lost - and it seeds the question process...

Thanks!

Dan

Plus - this works correctly on this community - it's only on the demo site that it does not work... (--jennifer)

you are right, Jennifer. It does work this way if you enter some text in the search box on the main page. We will recheck the demo for this issue. Thank you for reporting it.
