Is is possible to change topic url to a static url?

Answered Robert K. 7 years ago

At the moment a topic can be found like this: url.com/topicheadline

But if the headline changes and the url was posted somewhere else before that link won't work any longer.

Is it possible to use static urls (eg. url.com/topic-123) instead of topic urls created by headline?

Hello,

Right now it's not possible. Could you please clarify why the URL should be changed? It can be changed intentionally on edit topic by agent, so even while editing topic, you would need to choose that option to change URL.

We haven't got similar requests, so it would be great to have more details why this feature is important for you

Some more details:

In our company we don't use just the feedback portal (useresponse). We also have other portals like a forum, a partner portal and many more in our company.

In some cases a user of our feedback portal posts a link to a specific idea within one of the other portals. Maybe for maketing purposes or other reasons. That is fine.

But if then the headline will be changed within the feedback portal the link within the other portal(s) won't work any longer.

I know the admins can change a URL by themselves but links to ideas could be copied into other portals by "normal users" as well.

For example, user copies URL on another forum - why it would be changed in a month or year unless support agent or admin changes it? It means, that there is no use case where agent or admin would change idea URL with any reason.

Normally it's done during couple of days, if title of the idea is not great and agent would like to correct it along with URL.

So we don't think this option would be useful, but thank you very much for the details. Such option is only available in our help desk ticketing system where users share with direct links.

May the user just wants to correct a typo!?

Or a product name within the headline changes...

User is allowed to do it within 30 minutes after posting topic. And I doubt that he would use special icon for changing URL. So if user changes title, topic url is not changed and it won't affect anything.
