How to add Persistent Header Nav Bar - like UseResponse site has?

Archived Dan B. 11 years ago

Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.screencast.com/t/z19SFyBR0P

How can I enable this same feature on our UseResponse forum sites?

I LOVE this navigation bar because it shows consistently on all pages of the support community... This is important so our support community visitors can easily get back to our main website.

Thanks!

Dan,

You need to make your own them based on default one - just copy and rename it + choose in Administration-Interfaces as active.

Then you need to override default header.phtml with whatever you want to place there. Use Our Theme Customization services or manual how to create your own theme and customize interface.

Hi Stas. Since this nav bar is at the top of your official community for UseResponse, could you make the code for it available for us to use please. :-)

It would be very helpful to us.

Thanks!

Hi Dan,

Sorry, but this code is our copyright. Unfortunately, we can't provide it as it's a bit out of support unless Theme Customization services are purchased.

Hey Stas... the big question I have is this.

If we do put in something like this - what happens when you guys roll out the next update - which also includes updates to the theme? at that point the theme copy I have is obsolete, right?

That's my big concern about making changes to theme files... getting stuck in an old version of UR. :-)

Dan,

If you do everything in one theme and major update is live - like 3.0 release, as example, you'll just need to transfer the changes to new theme which can be added at the bottom of css, js, and overwritten headers - normally it requires 10 minutes of time.

We do the same for our website here.

In minor releases we try not to change or touch something critical in themes - only changes in global assets
