Email notification does not work on 3.1

Archived voldapet 10 years ago

Hi,

after new installation of 3.1 we used to use Native type for sending email notification (it worked properly). Yesterday we decided to use google mail as SMTP server. Test connection for SMTP works properly but no email is send.

More over we've tried to switch back to the Native type but it also does not work yet. So the result is that nor Native type nor SMTP type doesn't work. System doesn't send any email notification (for new comment, registration, etc).

Thanks for your help

I have to add one more information I found on our server

Using SMTP settings

-----------------------------

1.

host: smtp.gmail.com

port: 25

authentication: no

username: our email address

password: XX

security: off

Test connection returns OK, but emails don't work.

-----------------------------

Same settings as point 1, except

security: SSL

Test connection returns OK, but emails don't work.

-----------------------------

Same settings as point 1, except

security: SSL

port: 465

Test connection - never-ending loading!! Till now, I cannot load whole web in different tab! Require refresh of whole page and after another few seconds refresh is done and previous settings loaded.

-----------------------------

Same settings as point 1, except

security: SSL

port: 465

authentication: yes

Test connection returns OK, but emails don't work.

-----------------------------

Same settings as point 1, except

security: TLS

port: 587

authentication: yes

Test connection returns OK, but emails don't work.

-----------------------------

If you will have any more requests on tests, feel free to write me.

Because I cannot edit my own topic, I have to add one new

I have just found some error logs still enabled PHP logging from +-time, I was playing with these emails.

Maybe they should be useful for you

Jirka,

Regarding the issue you wrote above: delete file /hosting/www/locusmap.eu/help/cache/autoloader-class-map.php

and refresh your browser. System will rebuild the autoloader cache.

Voldapet and Jirka,

Could you please ask your hosting providers if they allow listening ports on your server, as most likely we've identified the problem, but not sure about the selected approach to solve it, so your feedback about "listening ports on server" will be appreciated.

Good day Stas,

thanks for information. Because there should more problems on our web hosting, we decided to give a try and create own virtual server and install this new UR on it. So I'll maybe ask over ticket for some temporary license to check if new server should handle it correctly. I'll write you more once we will set server up. Thanks for now

We still can't identify the problem nor on live or test environment. Could you please provide ftp access to any community sent to support(at)useresponse.com in order for us to review the problem, or submit ticket with credentials to FTP, as the problem is very strange.

BTW, do you see outgoing emails in Administration-Mailing-Mailing Log?

Oki, let's move on with this problem.

I have just finished completely migration of help desk from paid web hosting, to own LAMP server.

Problem with sending emails remains same! No matter what I set, no email is send.

They are also no visible in "Mailing log" as you may probably see with suddenly appear admin account http://help.locusmap.eu/profile/2098 :).

Access to FTP is now set to same parameters as previously in ticket 1449-11-14

Let me know if you will need another help.

I may confirm, that since weekend all emails works correctly. We are mainly using "Native" method, but I did a quite test also for sending over set SMTP server and it worked also correctly, so issue may be closed as "Solved". Thank you!

BTW, now in 3.1.1 release, email notifications are sent without listening ports by daemon
