Can system auto updater work without FTP?
Hey guys, I see this thread talking about the auto updatdater coming so FTP is no longer required.
However when I went into auto updater today (under "Modules"), it required me to enter FTP info. The problem is, we don't have FTP enabled on our server for security reasons.
is it possible for the Auto Update to actually update the files without requiring FTP, like WordPress does? :-)Thanks!Dan
Jennifer,
AutoUpdater can't work without FTP connection. If you are using SFTP you can just enter another port specifically for SFTP in the form.
FTP PHP extention is also required as AutoUpdater is taking files from our server and uploads to yours, so it's obligatory options.
Anyway, you always have Manual Update option available.

Hey Stas, no problem - definitely want to be using AutoUpdater.
We enabled FTP and limited it to only accept connections from localhost.
But I'm getting an error - so I filled in all the info for "FTP Access" and click "Test Connection", but no matter what I do, I get error "Undefined".
any suggestions?
I did verify locally from the server command line, I can type "ftp localhost" and it connects fine, I can login, look around, then logout.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
