Should the comment be hidden until "Moderation" has taken place and it has been approved?

Its hidden for all users except agents. As you are admin, you see it

I changed my role from admin to another team.

But I assume that I can see the comment on screen because I made it?

Yes, as you are author you see it

Is there a way to only notify the author of the topic about comments?

I guess it's not possible, as you can either notify all subscribers, specific agents or don't notify anyone.
