It would be great if we could Expand/view comments in merged thread. Often, those comments are useful.
When topic or tickets are merged, all comments are transferred to the main topic or ticket. So they are not lost.
Could you please show on the image what place to expand/view comments you do mean?
If the comments from other threads are dumped in the middle of another thread, they are sometimes taken out of context. They really should appear right under the merged thread. They could start colapsed and then expand when the user clicked a button. A visual indicator to let the user know there were comments.
On topics merge, all comments start belonging to new topic, and old relations are lost, so we won't identify which comments belong to old post, that's why there is no undo option for merging.
The standard use case for merging is that similar topic should have few or no comments, so that way there won't be any misunderstanding and mix.
I wish we could find better implementation but not in the near future.
No problem. It's not terribly important.
We have the same problem: https://help.useresponse.com/topic/mark-comments-on-merged-ideas
"The standard use case for merging is that similar topic should have few or no comments, so that way there won't be any misunderstanding and mix." May this is the theoretical approach, but in practise often it takes a while (or discussion within comments) to identify same or similar ideas. And then we have more comments on each idea.
