How to change the feedback flow

Answered sang.ho.grolleman 8 years ago

Hello,

Just trying the feedback tool. Wondering if I can modify the flow. I just want users to send me feedback. I don't need their mail or name (unless they want to see follow up personally by mail). However, I cannot find a place to turn off/modify the screens.

Is this possible? If so, where can I configure this?

Thanks!

Hello,

In your case you can use Anonymous Feedback. It can be activated on Administration -> Feedback page. When this option is on it allow to leave a feedback without entering the email.

Thanks Paul, problem is that I already had that activated. Still if you send feedback it asks for email and name.

Hello,

At the bottom of the form user can click on "I don't need account" checkbox.

Email and Full Name fields are optional, so user can pass them.

Thanks. I see that you have a completely different form than I do.

Screen 1:

Then you get screen 2:

19743327f805c7fe9a2f91a9ef15e6db

As you can see it is all mandatory. My settings:

Any ideas?

As we see, you mean Support Center widget. At this moment there is no way to skip Email and Name fields inside widget when "Anonymous Feedback" option is turned on. We will improve it in the next major release.

Ah, sorry for the confusion. Too bad it is not possible now. When is your major release planned? Maybe I can wait for that...

If you get any anonymous feedback that don't require entering even email, and you would post updates on the asked question or shared idea, the author won't get updates. So it would be preferable to gather at least email without creating user account.

I uderstand. Problem is that I want to collect as many feedback as possible from users in the beta stage of my site. Asking for an email address everytime they want to report a bug, typo, etc. is just not gonna work. In a later stage I want to collect ideas and use the full power of this tool. For now I only want it to be a reporting feature.

Here is simple situation when user report bugs and how we did notice it for years. After user submits new issue or request, most times it would be required to ask clarification questions, or if there is any misunderstand, user can add extra details.

In your case, user won't leave anything to provide additional info and it's vital to resolve the issue for you as an owner of product or service. Otherwise, you try to eliminate 2 fields to loose the possibility of improving your system.

Trust me, if people want to flag an error they won't fill out a 3 step, multi-field form which also requires a name an email. I guess we both have different experiences and opinions, which is completely fine with me :)

In case there are no similar topics, it would be 2 step only. title and description with email. Full Name is not required field. As we can see, for most users this process works fine. But we'll gather feedback on this question and get back to it later this year.
