Cost of renewal

Answered vjys7a9etx 7 years ago

Hi,

We want to install usereponse to use as a feedback page on our site. We were just about to purchase the self-hosted version (+ brand removal) when I saw on your checkout page that the price only includes one year of updates. I searched around and found that you charge $299 per year for updates? Is that correct? If so, why is it so expensive? I understand that you need to continue developing the software but of all the self-hosted software we have purchased this would be by far the most expensive. As an example, we use WHMCS for our billing system which runs our entire business which costs $324.95 + $59 per year for updates. Its not an option to not purchase updates as they are often required for security. Do I have the correct amount for purchasing updates or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Hi,

The cost to renew subscription on updates and support is $299 for 1 year. But this purchase is optional, and you get it only when you need updates for the next year.

So once subscription on updates expires, your software would continue working, so you are not stick to the updates here and only get them when required (after 6 months or 1,2 years).

As we release once a year major release of the system on yearly basis, we have to make such price for self-hosted version. Most companies after 1 year would limit your software, or would charge you the same price for the next major release. UseResponse has such pricing policy so that we try to keep it affordable for medium and corporate business.

For small business, you can consider Cloud account.

Thank you.

Hi Stas, thanks for your reply. What about security updates? We are not interested in major new functionality, the product already has far more than we require. Do you backport security updates to old versions or do you require customers to update to the latest version (and hence have to pay for it)?

Yes, we do provide security updates to our previous versions until major release. So if next major release is live, you would have to update to it. Though, previous versions are supported in regards to security updates during 3 months period to cover any breaches found.

Let us know if you have more questions.

I see that you are getting ready to release 4.0 after the summer. If we purchased now are you saying that we wouldn't have to purchase any further updates until 5.0 was released (to cover security updates only).
